Our expedition spans the spectacular landscapes of Kafue, South Luangwa, and Lower Zambezi National Parks—some of the best-kept secrets in Africa—where we look for predators such as leopard and wild dog to Thornicroft’s giraffe and Cookson’s wildebeest, species that occur nowhere else in the world. Bird life is also particularly prolific, with 740 bird species.

 

Back to Africa with Lex Hes: Safari to Namibia, Botswana, Zambia

Join expert naturalist Lex Hes on our luxury African safari through Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia. Witness the incredible variety of landscapes, wildlife, and birds, while staying at some of Africa's most remote camps. Begin in Namibia where we search for desert elephants in Damaraland, visit with members of the nomadic Himba tribe, and witness huge concentrations of wildlife in Etosha National Park. The exquisite Mombo Camp is our base for explorations of Botswana's Okavango Delta. Our last stop at South Luangwa National Park in Zambia is famous for its healthy leopard population.

Sail in the wake of European explorers to the Atlantic islands that once constituted the western barrier of the known world on a small ship luxury cruise. Our Azores voyage begins with a visit to Spain’s Alhambra and the famed Rock of Gibraltar. From the marvelous Alhambra in Granada, we embark on a small ship Mediterranean cruise to explore the famed satellite cities of the Roman Empire. While in Algeria, we also experience the medina of Algiers and St. Augustine Cathedral in Annaba. Roman Carthage and well-preserved Dougga await us in Tunisia, along with Kairouan and El-Jem. Mali, Burkina Faso & Ghana with Timbuktu

We are excited to introduce a West Africa private aircraft tour that visits three of the region’s most mesmerizing countries. We take an in-depth look into Mali’s cultures and customs, from an exploration of Timbuktu to an encampment of the nomadic Tuareg tribe—the legendary blue men of the desert. In Burkina Faso and Ghana we visit local mosques, a king’s residence, and spend time at museums, markets, and craft villages where we learn about the culture from the indigenous artisans. A special highlight in Ghana is the Akwasidae festival.

Our ambitious and unique Mediterranean Sea and Suez Canal luxury adventure cruise begins in Crete before tracing the Turquoise Coast of Turkey to the far eastern Mediterranean—a land of fascinating history. Behold Syria’s Krac de Chevaliers and in Lebanon, wander among the ancient Greco-Roman cities of Byblos and Baalbek. A special highlight of this voyage is a daylight transit of the Suez Canal. Begin in Jordan, with a visit to magical Petra, before we head to Egypt and the famed St. Catherine’s Monastery. Sailing into the Red Sea, we explore Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. In Saudi Arabia, we visit Jeddah, gateway to Mecca, then head farther south through the Dhalak Archipelago to Massawa, Eritrea. Our voyage concludes in Hudaydah, as we travel overland to Sana’a, Yemen’s capital city.
