Adventure Travel India & Asia The Americas Antarctic & Sub-Antarctic Islands Africa Europe South Pacific Indian Ocean Arctic

Labeled ultima Thule (“farthest land”) by ancient geographers, the lands and seas of the far north were once unpassable. Using expedition ships and icebreakers, our expeditions present travelers with the opportunities to view Arctic wildlife, seabirds, whales, polar bears; encounter indigenous peoples who carve out a living at the ends of the habitable earth; and attain destinations long sought after by a succession of polar explorers, such as the North Pole and Northeast Passage.

Northern Ring of Fire: The Bering Sea & Aleutians

Departs: July 25, 2010

On this remarkable cruise aboard the Clipper Odyssey, we'll explore some of the most remote places on Earth - the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands followed by the Kamchatka Peninsula - showcasing a wild and pristine Alaska few travelers get to witness. The history of WWII in Alaska unfolds as we explore Attu, Kiska, and Adak Islands and note rusted military artifacts amid fields of vividly-hued wildflowers. And, aboard Zodiacs we investigate secret coves and picture-perfect bays in search of seabirds, brown bears, and Arctic foxes.

Northern Ring of Fire: Kamchatka & The Kuril Islands

Departs: August 9, 2010

Join us aboard the luxury expedition vessel Clipper Odyssey as we cruise from Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula along the Kuril Island chain to Hokkaido, Japan. History of the Cold War and Arctic explorers comes to life as we trace the Ring of Fire through the North Pacific. Spectacular scenery and an incredible array of wildlife--whales, seals, otters, and thousands of seabirds await along the deserted coves and anchorages of this seldom visited region.

Norway to Spitsbergen

Departs: July 5, 2011

During our luxury Arctic cruise the magical light of summer shines on Norway’s scenic coastline and the wildlife-rich wilderness of Spitsbergen. Brightly painted towns and vertical cliffs veiled in lacey cascades call to the camera while millions of seabirds—kittiwakes, shags, fulmars, and puffins—call this natural paradise home. Pristine land- and icescapes await us in Spitsbergen and numerous Zodiac excursions bring us up-close to whales, seals, and beaches covered with hauled-out walrus. During our eight days in Svalbard, we keep a lookout for polar bears along ice-fringed shores.
