Galapagos My Way

What to Expect

To fully enjoy the wildlife-viewing opportunities this exciting program offers, participants should be fit and in good health. Our yacht’s schedule includes morning and afternoon shore excursions each day. To visit the islands you will board Zodiacs; there will be landings directly onto the beach (wet landings) or onto a dock or rocks (dry landings). You must be able to climb easily into and out of Zodiacs and walk up to three miles at a comfortable pace over uneven terrain, with frequent stops for nature study.

A highlight of our visit to the Galápagos is the opportunity to swim and snorkel with sea lions and other wildlife. During June, temperatures in the islands and in Guayaquíl generally range from the low 70s to the mid 80s°F, and water temperatures range from the mid 60s to the low 70s°F. Temperatures in Quito, which is at an elevation of 9,300 feet, range from 50 to 70°F.

We will mail a complete list of recommended clothing and a suggested reading list to you approximately five months prior to departure. Travel to remote destinations is inherently unpredictable; participants on this expedition will most enjoy it if they travel with a spirit of flexibility and appreciation for its unique conditions.
