Our final 2011 travel calendar is at the printer and will be landing in your mailbox in the coming weeks! Within its pages, we are excited to share a great mix of natural history and cultural destinations for 2011—and, what a great year it will be. Not only will the beloved Clipper Odyssey be moving from the Pacific to explore new ports in the Arabian, Mediterranean, and North Seas; we are also introducing several NEW Zegrahm expeditions:

  • Circumnavigation of Sumatra – See orangutans and meet some of the locals called “stone-jumpers,” and be among the first to sail around Sumatra on this 18-day voyage.
  • Bay of Bengal & the Andaman Sea – With stops in Malaysia, Thailand, Burma, Sri Lanka, and India, this is a fascinating immersion into the cultures and natural wonders fringing the largest bay in the world.
  • Baliem Valley & Raja Ampat – Featuring the best of Indonesia by land and sea, we will trek to remote villages in the highlands of Papua and snorkel and dive through an area considered to have the most biodiverse marine life in the world.
  • Journey Through the Red Sea – Visits to salt markets, mosques, and museums make for a cultural extravaganza on this incredible journey to Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Eritrea.
  • Circumnavigation of Sicily – Savor Mediterranean cuisine and local vintages as you circle Sicily on a voyage that combines exquisite Roman architecture and history with the region’s renowned culinary traditions.

And, bringing back several tried-and-true itineraries:

  • Circumnavigation of Ireland – The Emerald Isle sparkles on this 14-day voyage that visits the Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, and Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway.
  • Mediterranean Mosaic – Visit eight World Heritage Sites on this unique itinerary that highlights Algeria, with its scenic port cities, pristine Roman ruins, and warm, welcoming people.
  • In the Wake of the Vikings – Sail the same routes as Viking seafarers and encounter an array of geological wonders, plus a profusion of wildlife, including seabirds, whales, and seals.

We are also thrilled to announce the addition of two trekking expeditions in 2011. The first will be in April to explore Bhutan’s many hill-top temples and sanctuaries, while June brings trekking through Uganda to come face-to-face with the region’s astounding wildlife, including the elusive mountain gorillas. These 14-day itineraries are designed to delve even deeper into Bhutan and Uganda with almost daily three to seven mile hikes. In 2012, we may expand our activity offerings to include rafting, biking, canoeing…whatever method allows us to best experience the world’s most interesting destinations.

Be on the look-out for the printed version of the calendar arriving in mailboxes soon; in the meantime, you can view the 2011 travel calendar on our Web site.

Our leaders are excited to share in the adventure as we explore new destinations and new modes of travel. And, most of all, we are looking forward to traveling with you in 2011!
